Olympiad examinations at school level are competitive examination, based on the school syllabus, which are conducted through various independent organizations. These exams give exposure to students about competition and make them ready to face any competitive challenge that would be thrown open to them in the future.

Olympiad Examinations help to identify a child’s capability and assessment of his/her real potential in competing in today’s world. They also bring out the areas needing attention so that proper orientation can be given in areas lacking proficiency. In a nutshell, they are a platform for realistic assessment to prepare a child to face the modern competitive world.

Mathematics Olympiad

The Indian National Maths Olympiad (INMO) is annually held in India since 1989 and is conducted by the Homi Bhabha Centre of Science Education (HBCSE). It is pre-requisite for the finest brain of the country to get selected and stand a chance to represent India at International Maths Olympiad.


Eligibility and Selection Process

students first have to qualify Pre- RMO & RMO Stage-2 of their respective state or region, out of which around 30 student's pre-region are selected, to write the INMO. Among these 500 students, a total of around 30 qualify for the INMO.

Science Olympiad

The Indian National Physics, Chemistry & Biology Olympiad (INPhO, INChO & INBO) are annually held in India is also conducted by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).


Eligibility and selection process

Students first have to qualify NSE stage (National Standard Examination) to appear for this olympiad. Among the 30,000+ students who sit for NSE, only the top 1% are selected for the Indian National Olympiad. The selected students then attend the orientation cum selection camp (ocsc), held at HBCSE, Mumbai.

MOST OF THE SCIENCE AND MATHS OLYMPIAD EXAMS ARE TWO LEVEL EXAMS

LEVEL 1
  • It is paper based multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam conducted in collaboration with schools
  • The exam is conducted for classes 1 to 12
  • The medium of giving the test is English
  • Most of the questions are asked from NCERT/CBSE syllabus
  • This exam is open to all students studying in the participating schools

LEVEL 2
  • Based on students’ performance in level 1 exam, only top performing students qualify for level 2 exams.
  • The second level test, is also a paper based multiple-choice (MCQ) exam
  • The questions are usually asked from the NCERT syllabus of the participating students’ class.
  • The difference between level 1 & level 2 exams is based on the difficulty level. The questions in level 2 exams are a little above those in level 1 exam, on the difficulty scale.
